VT is a major support services company that delivers complex projects and services to governments and large organisations around the world. They provide engineering, training and education-based services to the military, airlines, broadcasters and schools. From the BBC World Service to the Metropolitan Police, From the Royal Navy to British Airways and from the US Government to Local Education Authorities, VT Group’s clients trust them to keep their business critical services and assets working. VT wanted their new corporate brochure to reflect this strategic focus and support their vision to be recognised as the number one international government services group.
Open Sky’s treatment concentrates on the ‘what’, ‘how’ and ‘where’ of the VT story rather than the divisions themselves. We treated every spread as an advertisement that tells a key element of the story.
VT focuses on business opportunities that involve long-term partnering where they can add significant value through the delivery of ‘critical to success’ managed services to sophisticated customers. These business opportunities are invariably complex, often with an engineering focus, and require practical solutions, programme and project management and the excellent delivery of managed services using their broad range of capability.
VT’s engineering roots lie in shipbuilding, but they have broadened their skills by acquiring new businesses and employing new people, to expand into other fields from construction to computing, and from education to electronics. Throughout all, the engineering mindset prevails. They have a desire to solve problems; a practical approach to getting the job done; and a willingness to adopt new ideas.
Most of VT’s business is high-value, long-duration contracts, but their smaller contracts can also demand substantial resource, time and cost management. At the same time a lot of what they do is finely tailored to individual clients' needs. No two projects are the same, indeed many are wholly new concepts. But whether large or small, conventional or highly specialised, their comprehensive project management skills always ensure they minimise risk while delivering exactly what their customer needs.

VT is a leading base operations and facilities maintenance provider with an extensive portfolio ranging from running single sites to operating large multi-site complexes worldwide. They are also a major provider of through-life support for both military and non-military equipment. VT supports nearly 3,000 military aircraft, some 7,000 frontline army vehicles, 50 naval vessels, a fleet of 24,000 non-military vehicles as well as numerous training, communication and IT systems.
Their capability includes full reliability and maintainability analysis, logistics and supply chain management, as well as platform and equipment maintenance, repair and upgrade.

VT is a major provider of education support services in the UK. Working in partnership with local and national government, Learning and Skills Councils and individual education institutions, they’re delivering a wide range of services to improve the life chances of thousands of children, young people and adults.
Creating new assets that provide a capability to the customer is a major activity for VT. It includes equipment such as naval vessels, aircraft and specialist vehicles, systems, such as command & control and communications networks, and infrastructure such as schools, training centres and transmitter sites.
In some cases they manufacture the asset. In others, they procure the asset from a third party, applying their supply chain expertise to ensure value for money and fitness for purpose.
VT is involved in a wide range of market sectors, including aviation, broadcast, defence, energy, education and training. They design, create, operate and support assets. They also train people to help them achieve their goals - from school children to teachers, engineers to pilots.
